Jade Lingham

Jade Lingham is a South African rapper, singer, songwriter & record producer born on June 2, 2004, in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, with a remarkable journey in the world of music. His earliest memory of music takes him back to his grandmother's living room at the age of six, where he plinked away at a piano, creating unforgettable memories.

 

In the first grade, Jade began jotting down lyrics in a notebook given to him by his father, marking the start of his lyrical journey. His early compositions may have lacked depth, but they were the foundation upon which he'd build his musical prowess.

 

In 2016, he overcame shyness and took the stage at a school talent show, beginning to build the confidence required for public performances.

 

In 2017, a twist of fate led Jade to discover FL Studio on his dad's PC, a software his dad primarily used for sound design. Initially overwhelmed by all of its features, he abandoned the software, putting his musical aspirations on hold.

 

Fast forward to 2018, Jade, now in 8th grade, resumed writing lyrics and started rapping and singing them at school and at home. In support of what his parents thought would be "just a hobby", he received funding from his dad to purchase the equipment he needed to make professional sounding music. This motivated him to record his ideas and turn it into an actual songs, instead of just writing them down in a notebook. 

He then stumbled upon "Audacity" as a beginner-friendly recording software that was not too overwhelming. This marked the start of his recording journey.

 

In 2020, Jade bought himself a 2019 MacBook Air, through which he transitioned to Logic Pro X, significantly improving the production quality of his songs. However, he later returned to FL Studio to explore its potential and immersed himself in tutorials he found on YouTube to refine his voice, mixing, mastering, and beat-making skills.

 

Jade's dedication to learning led him to eventually become proficient in FL Studio, helping him create his own beats and vocal presets and strive for originality in his music. Over the next two years, he steadily upgraded to more expensive and higher quality equipment, allowing him to reach new heights in his artistry.

On October 24, 2022, Jade released his first official single, "No Time For You," marking a significant milestone in his career. 

 

As 2023 began, he founded his own independent record label named "TwoThirty Collective," which aims to empower fellow independent artists to thrive in the music industry.
